I hope if you are productivity geek or someone who is looking for productivity tips or hacks, you might have come across a term named Time Blocking, have you wondered what does that term actually mean?

Time Blocking means to assign a specific work or task to a particular time interval, see the below example to get more idea

6:30–7:00 — Exercising

7:00–7:30 — Reading

7:30–8:30 — Bath and have breakfast

I hope you got a clear cut idea of what time blocking is and how it is done.

Everyday before going to bed I journal and with journaling I plan my next whole day with time blocks, like I will first write down what all things I have to do the next day and then specify what to do at what time and how much time to assign to every task, I make blocks according to what my usual energy levels are at that time.

I avoid high attention and focus tasks after 12 P.M. because I really become very lousy so either I assign work which is of low value in the afternoon or something which really interests me (because that won’t require a lot of energy).

Now does that work?

Trust me, I couldn’t have been more satisfied with how I feel at the end of the day when I tick 80% of my activities as done which I assigned the previous day, it gives a sense of feeling that I have the control of how I spend my time actively and effectively.

I now compare that when I didn’t used to plan my tasks and time block, I wasn’t clear what to do and when to do it and due to this lack of clarity I used to waste a lot of my time, and trust me the feeling of wasting your time when you know you could have used that time wisely really really sucks.

Now I am not saying that everyday I complete 100% of my tasks which I assign, I sometimes struggle at completing them too but when compared to what it was when I worked and spent my time previously, it is way way better.

I hope this article helps you in becoming more effective on the tasks you perform.
